How to Enable ISTA+ V4.11 Expert Mode for Single Module Programming

Does anyone have a solution for Ista+ Programming Expert Mode?
No expert mode available yet for ISTA+ v4.11.12.

This will be an issue in feature, expert mode can get you out of unpleasant work.

For example if you update i update a whole g11 with ista p and if you update kafas you lose fsc codes, so if i deselected kafas, fsc stayed unharmed. But you can do that now with BMW ISTA Software

One more important remark is that esys wont let you update a module that is allready updated, but ista let you do it, so after 7/11 psdzdate you are stuck with this issue too…

Best to use a router for programming HUH etc through ista
Or you can just use tftpd32 (or tftpd64 if 64bit OS)

The difference between Expert mode and Ista plus?

The difference is his loader allows for hiding of modules

Ista plus does not he or someone may be working on an alternate loader to hide retrofitted modules but as it so far look into ESYS for that only option I can think of right now last istap that had a lot a F ,G or I cars was 3.64.2 as 3.65.0 only had like 2 model forget exactly which ones you have to double or make link dos command to point to istaplus PSdZ folder

Some new solutions to activate ISTA-P expert mode ?

so updating the folders in ISTA-P with the files from PSdz swe will not do the trick. You will be inserting back all the missing vehicles. I saw in the main series you will have to rename F, G, I series files to reflect.

after copy PSDz (data_swi) to pszdata ISTA P with correction data in mainseries, add data F001, F10,…etc = same result

ISTA P shows window that car is not programmable (only ISTA+)
trick is somewhere else
this is Ista p expert mode confirmed to work 100%

Why not just use a earlier version of ISTA-P (such as 4.08 or 4.10) to do single module coding?
Because what i am getting is there are problematic files out there that BMW knows about and in the latest version of ISTA+ it can stop from a certain update and keep the module on the one that works. So could you not reverse populate for example take the p-files from a later version to a previous but you would need all files and folders for example. anyone with more can chime in

How to solved the problem with ISTA and BMW m3 e36 of 96

Problem:

Tips to follow:
To make an E36 you have to enter the chassis manually, ISTA will not detect the box tree and then have to switch to the old DIS style visual.

Tip 1:
No M3 E36 3.2 Phase1 = E36 Phase 2

1996 = ODB and no ads

M3 E36 3.0 L = ADS

So it must work very well with BMW Diagnostic Tool ISTA

I had a M3 E36 3.2 Phase1 of 1995, so the very first E36 Phase 2 and it worked very well.

Tip 2:
the m3 e36 3litre it is a s50 driven by a Bosch in ADS unlike the e36 m3 3.2 which is on a s50 driven by siemens so obd, he cannot diag the engine with the cable dcan mode kcan on the take oBD

the ADS protocol (DS1) uses two communication channels (TX / K and RX / L), it requires a specific interface, the round with 20 plug.

e36 before about 95: ADS / DS1 protocol on most modules except some “OBD” modules: ABS, AIRBAG
e36 after about 95: OBD / DS2 protocol on most modules, all engine computers except diesel td and tds remaining in ADS for DMEs, Bosch calculators are in ADS and Siemens in OBD

Different between INPA and ICOM?

INPA just need a OBD II cable with any PC and it can run. Software can be download. The cable cost only $20 USD + cost of a laptop.For a ICOM Scanner, it need a software called ISTA. I know all the bmw model can be used with. The whole system cost around $400 USD + cost of laptop. Anyone know the different between them??? If I am just a user and do some simple work for my E60 M5 (SMG clutch teach-in) , look for error codes. Which one I should buy?

ICOM and GT1 are hardware. GT1 was the previous generation, then came ICOM, and now something called E-NET (I believe).

DIS, ISTA, and INPA are software. DIS was the first generation. ISTA is the replacement for DIS. INPA is software, but was designed for BMW engineer use, not dealerships and most dealerships don’t have it or any clue how to use it. Some of the other guys here can recommend a software set, it seems the place I got mine is no longer selling them either.

ICOM is probably best for me. It does work with 20-pin port “ADS” fully.

Regarding ADS another question/problem came in my mind. Afaik ADS is only supported by Ediabas 6.4.3 and 6.4.7. Is there any advise how to handle this? Or is the only way having 6.4.3 or 6.4.7 installed on one machine and 7.3.0 on another? Is it at all necessary to use a newer version than 6.4.3 of ediabas for newer cars? Currenty I run 7.3.0 because I do not have a ADS interface.

The old EDIABAS is for when using an actual physical ADS interface. Keep using 7.3.0, it will need to be configured as “remote” and you will have to input the IP address of the BMW ICOM A2.You will need 2 tools. iTool Radar to get IP of ICOM and Reserve ICOM (only for when you use INPA, WinKFP, NCSExpert, etc), and EasyConnect for easy configuration of your ediabas.ini file.
