As a Audi owner, I always try to take good care of my car every time I am with it. But cars will go wrong no matter how well you keep it. So when its Check Engine Light came on yesterday, I was surprised and became upset. Fortunately, it was not the first time that its Check Engine Light illuminated, I dealed with the problem easily. Here I would like to share my experience with all of you.
Generally speaking, we can learn what is happening to our Audi via OBD, On-Board Diagnostic system which covers about 80% of the systems on most cars, light trucks, SUVs and minivans. The work can be done by just using an Audi diagnostic tool or code scanner that reads and clears trouble codes. Personally, I prefer to use VAS 5054A. Some of you may like to use others like DMW3 Audi Code Reader or VAG401 Audi Professional Tool. After connecting the devices with our car computer, we can get access to what our car is up to. t is often the case that when the Check Enigne Light illuminates in an Audi, there is a good chance it is because of a faulty vacuum hose. If this is what your OBD2 diagnostic tool is saying, then you can locate the hose, find out its prblem and fix it. There are many articles about how to check yoru engine vacuum hoses on the internet, which are really good resources to get your job done. If you are unable to locate a suspected leak yourself, take your vehicle to an auto repair shop where there is more professional mechanics and more sophisticated equipments.
If the problem is not with the vacuum hose, you can first write down the code, clear it and then check out if the light is out. If not, take your car to an repair shop for a more thorough check. Give the code to your mechanic, so that he or she can get down to work easier and faste
