SD Connect C4 change Mercedes time and date in cluster

Here is the instruction on how to change MB time/date with 2018.05 SD Connect C4 DAS/Xentry software.

Equipment:

I have bought Star Diagnose multiplexer with DAS/Xentry software on www.obd2tool.com

I think it’s cheaper than other places.

Follow the steps:
1. Install and activate the software. Software is pre-installed and activated if you get the MB SD Connect C4 multiplexer and Dell D630 laptopbundle package.
2. Connect MB SD C4 system with vehicle via OBD port
3. Run DAS software
4. Come to the main Control units group menu->F3
5. Select Information and communication option->F3
6. Select IC Instrument Cluster->F3
7. Select Diagnosis to plant specifications->F3

8.Select Control unit adaptations->F3

9.Select Control unit adaptations (Variant coding)->F3

10.Select Variantkodierung ->F3

11.Select Datumsanzeige Grundbildebene and turn date on “ein”

12.Select Menu 24 option and activate key dependency to “aktivieren” to active the status.

13.Reboot the cluster. The whole procedure is complete.

SD Connect C4 DCDI_eErrorCode=204 (204)

To solve MB SD Connect C4 Error Code 204, just put fresh 6 battery and do a csd firmware update. This is a common problem with cheap SD C4.

Please prepare the following tools:

①— SD connect C4 multiplexer which need to input the batteries.

②— 6 units Ni-MH Rechargeable batteries, Size: AA, Voltage: 1.2V, Capacity: above 1700mA.

③— 1 unit 108M WIFI Card.

④— Plum screwdriver, Specification: T-20

Take out the rubber:

2.1 Use the T20 Plum screwdriver to take out the screws as below.

①— Batteries Space.

②— WIFI Card Space.

③— SD Card Space.

Insert the Rechargeable batteries.

3.1 Use the T20 Plum screwdriver to take out the screws of Batteries Space fixation as below.

3.2 Take out the fixation of Batteries Space. Pay attention to the Battery polarity marked in the Batteries Space.

3.5 Use the T20 Plum screwdriver to fix the screws of Batteries Space fixation as below. Inserting the batteries is finished.

Installing WIFI Card.

4.1 Inserting the WIFI Card into the WIFI Card Space. Please make the correct direction.

I want to have M-mode in W212 E500 4matic 2010 model 212.090 SA801 – YOM 10/1, at the moment my variant code is Y2KX, does anyone help me to know the right code for M-mode ?

That’s interesting. I’ve got nearly the same car (W212 from 2009) and I’m also looking for the manual mode. My variant code is Y2KY.

Someone recommended to try three codings before and after the current one but I’m a bit hesitant with this.
The coding contains several properties of the car including 4Matic or RWD. In contrast to the RWD ones, the MB Star have a torque limitation to protect the gearbox etc. when starting with full throttle. Therefore, a genuine 4Matic variant code would be preferable.

I think in the 7G coding collection there was no W212 E500 with M-mode. The next “match” could be an S500 4Matic (221.086). From the thread mentioned its variant code is YE25. Not sure if this one has M-mode, though.

I want to confirm that in 212.090 with MY2010 SA801 M-mode work very well

with Y2KZ ?? Imidietly after coding there was error showed in KI display “presafe function is unavaiable” but after ignition off/on everything works!

For 212.090 MY2009 SA800 correct coding is Y2AR

SUCCESS! Now with working M-mode! Y2KZ also works for me. Same error as above after first start which went away with the 2nd start.

Test drive was successful. One drawback, however: The gear switching times in M are not better than in C or S. Some years ago, I read from an S211 (E500 M273 with 7g) which was given M-mode and the owner claimed significantly faster gear switching. He did it the official way: Changing VeDoc and MB Star C4 online SCN coding. Maybe there’s more to it than just the VGS variant coding.

W220 ESP Variant Codingwith SDconnect C4

What is variant coding:

The variant coding in question is set by using factory data. That factory data is basically what chassis that engine control unit is bolted to. Things like weight of the car, yaw sensor and acceleration sensor parameters, moment arms, etc etc.

Once the engine control unit “learns” its variant coding, it is permanently and irrevocably locked down.

A specialized laptop, second-hand ok

Working software, original/crack…both ok

(if you’re newbies, better use a diagnostic bundle, avoid lots of issues)

What is C1511-005 Coding Error:

The ESP module reads the variant coding from the ECU. Once read, its ” soft” locked.

Your trouble code suggests that the ESP module has a variant coding that differs from that of the ECU.

Is this a recent occurrence? Did you perhaps have an third party ECU tune performed? Was the ESP module replaced ? Is the trouble code stored or current ?

How to do W220 ESP Variant Coding correctly:

If you have a STAR diagnostic tool such as SD connect C4, and it sounds like you may, go to the ESP module under

Select C1511-005

1.to the right it should say CURRENT or STORED

hit F8

It should show you how many time the car has ben started after the code was detected. “0” means the fault is CURRENT, any number greater than 0 the fault should be STORED and past history. The ( obviously ) higher the number of start cycles the longer ago it was.

(If it was a long ago and a stored code, I would clear it and move on. If it is current, you can force a variant locking reset of the ESP module in STAR diagnostic and see if the code returns. If the trouble code returns, that would make it a current and ongoing error. If that turns out to be the case then perhaps the ESP module has gone “breasts skyward”.)

2.Double click C1511-005

Read the pre conditions
hit F3
read the sequence and follow it to (hopefully) force a variant coding re-read/write.

It would seem that the ESP reads the ECU on every start up. Having a bad TCU MAY be contributing to the ECU variant coding being off kilter. I would think there would be some P2000-P2564 series codes displayed for that though.

I have no training as a MB mech/tech and offer this as just a possible direction to proceed in. The ( very ) highly paid professionals at the Dollarship or the ( not so ) highly paid folks at a good independent shop should/would have the final say.

How to Setting Benz diagnostic tool MB SD Connect Compact 4 Star Diagnosis WIFI?
Steps by steps instruction:
Click wireless network icon to select “View Available Wireless Network”.

Click “Refresh network list”.

Click “Change advanced settings”.

Select Wireless Network.
Tick on “Use Windows to configure my wireless network setting”.
Click Add.

Enter Network name..
Tick on “Connection even if this network is not broadcasting”
Cancel tick on “The key is provided for me automatically”.
Tick on “This is a computer-to-computer (ad hoc) network; wireless access points are not used”
Enter network key and confirm it. (network key: 26 a)

Go to Connection and tick on “correct when this internet is in range”, then click OK.

Enter the network key and click Connect.

Click the red circle in the menu bar.
Select Configuration and then click Yes.
Select MUX>> Register/Configure.

Select Encryption: WEP/Hex and enter the key (26 “a”s), then click Start.

Click OK.

Close Administration interface.
And you will see the network set just now is connected.
