Mercedes W221 Mileage Correction via FVDI or VVDI MB Tool

Cannot change mileage on a 2009 Mercedes-benz w221 via OBD? Need to fit filter/blocker in EIS and do dash only?

NO! I did 6 merc w221 using FVDI obd without any issues.. there is an instruction by www.obd2tool.com on how to do it step by step in the abrites manual…. can do all control unit with it. need like 1.5 to 2 hours to finish it. it block can between IC and EIS.

I only have the R270 programmer at the moment and digiprog 3 so I think can blocker is going to be the cheapest way. If for Mercedes only, vvdi mb tool should be the best choice…program keys and repair dash km..all ok.

Here, two methods i wanna talk about…
(Easiest) Using Fvdi abrites commander obd change mileage:

Backup important files

Open Special Function ‘CGW (ZGW) Explorer” to read the EEPROM and the flash memories of Central Gateway (CGW) control.  Back up EEPROM and the flash dumps as files in your hardware.

FVDI Mercedes will automatically back up EEPROM and the flash memories file when it reads them. The backup files should be installed on C:/Program Files/ABRITES software for IDXXXXXX/Mercedes.

Select S-class W221

Select EEPROM, click Read EEPROM and save it to a file after EEPROM has been read.

Select Flash and click Read Flash and save it to a file after FLASH has been read.
Modify ASSYST and ASSYST PLUS service history records
Open “ASSYST PLUS”
Select the ZGW type “W221”
Click on “Get Current” to see the internal data
Click on “ASSYST PLUS Service Memory” to view different service history
Enter “Main Odometer”, “Operating Time (Days)” and “Number of Oil Changes” to alter all this information.
Click on “Yes” when FVDI ABRITES program asks to set the information for the different service history records.
Enter detail for each record.
For example: If the vehicle has 3 records, you need to enter the details for 3 service intervals. The values for the day cycle counter should be entered in an increasing way.

Change the main Odometer in Dashboard, EZS & CGW
change the odometer in Instrument Cluster as well as in EZS and CGW module
Open “Odometer Correction” special function and select S-class W221
Then click on “Get Odometer”
Select “Set Odometer” to load EEPROM and Flash dumps
NOTE: Make sure the ignition is ON when click “Set Odometer” button

(Good for Mercedes) Using vvdi mb bga tool repair dash mileage:

Vvdi mb tool is a good solution of mercedes read & write keys/CGW (ZGW), EIS & ELS tools, password calculation of working keys and lost all key, prepare key file, renew ECU/gearbox/ISM, repair KM, etc.

It can repair dash km for models as below:
1.C(W204), GLK(X204), CLK(W207), E(W212), SLS(W197), CLS(W218)
2.R-Class(W251), GL(X164), ML(W164)
3.E-Class(W211), CLS(W219)
4.S-Class(W221), CL(216)
5.W166, W172, W246, W231
6W205

If you want block KM synchronization between EZS and dashboard, you need backup CGW(Gateway) EEPROM and FLASH before write KM

block KM synchronization require update Gateway FLASH and EEPROM. You can provide the FLASH and EEPROM that you have. If you don’t provide these files. We will use the FALSH and EEPROM from Gateway, only need some time to read it.

FVDI Error: DEVICE NOT OPENED, Red Light On (SOLVED)

This is the solution for how to deal with 2016 FVDI ABRITES Commander for TOYOTA’s error— “Device not open” and red light on.

Symptom:
The FVDI prompts “DEVICE NOT OPENED” during online activation and the indicator light on the main unit turns red and flashes. The light of Softdog also flashes.


Solution:
Disconnect all the devices, and connect them according to the following instruction:

Note: Computer System— Windows XP

—When obtaining authorization, operate by following the next steps:
1.Connect the Softdog to FVDI device. Do not connect Softdog to the computer, otherwise the Softdog green light or red light will on, and result in authorization fail.
2. Use USB cable to connect FVDI and the computer, but do not connect FVDI to the car. Wait until FVDI green light on and Softdog red light on, you succeed getting authorization. If FVDI red light on or Softdog green light on, repeat the above steps.—After get authorization for FVDI diagnostic mux, follow the next steps to connect.1. Connect the Softdog to FVDI (Note: do not connect Softdog to the computer).
3. Use USB cable to connect FVDI and the computer. Wait until FVDI green light on and Softdog red light on, connect Softdog USB cable to the computer. During the procedure, the Softdog red light keeps on (Note: do not connect FVDI to the car)
4. Till the above 2 steps work well, connect 2016 FVDI ABRITES Commander with Full Version 18 Software to the car.

avdi 2015 installation Step by Step

 

 

Generally, avdi users follow the next steps to install avdi 2015.

Take avdi for Mercedes Benz installation for example.

Step 1: Download ” avdi V2015_6.2″ “CDM20814″ “FWDownloader” and unzip them

Step 2: Open avdi V2015_ 6.2, setup “Adobe Reader 9″

Step 3: In the folder “avdi V2015_6.2″, click “Setup” to complete Abrites Commander Software setup Wizard.

Step 4: After completing the Abrites Commander Software setup Wizard, restart the computer.

Step 5: This is connection instruction:

When ready to get authorization for AVDI ABRITES Commander, operate by following the next steps:

1). Connect the Softdog to avdi . Do not connect Softdog to the computer, otherwise the Softdog green light or red light will on, and result in authorization fail.

2). Use USB cable to connect avdi and the computer, but do not connect avdi to the car. Wait until avdi green light on and Softdog red light on, you succeed getting authorization. If avdi red light on or Softdog green light on, repeat the above steps.

 

After get authorization for avdi , follow the next steps to connect.

1). Connect the Softdog to avdi (Note: do not connect Softdog to the computer).

2). Use USB cable to connect avdi and the computer. Wait until avdi green light on and Softdog red light on, connect Softdog USB cable to the computer. During the procedure, the Softdog red light keeps on (Note: do not connect avdi to the car)

3). Till the above 2 steps work well, connect avdi to the car.

Step 6: Connect avdi to the computer, and computer found new hardware.

Step 7: Browse folder “CDM20814″ to setup driver into it.

Step 8: Finish the software for USB Serial Converter

Step 9: another window pops up “Found new hardware”, repeat the last steps and finish the software for USB Serial Port.

Step 10: Open Device Manage-USB Serial Port(COM4) – right click “Properies” – Driver- the Driver version must be 2.8.14.0.

Then find out “USB Serial Converter”, right click “properties” – Driver-the Driver version must be 2.8.14.0.

Step 11: Open “FWDownloader” and check if it is available with newest version.

Step 12: Open “Abrites Quick Start”, Click Logo “Mercedes Benz” , one window pops up saying ” Connecting to server…..OK”, which means the computer is network connected. Click “Ok”, then it displays “Days remain: 361″ which means avdi is activated for 361 days, click “Close”.

Note: after avdi is activated by obd2tool Company, it is okay to use it without network connection. If the network disconnect, you get message “Connecting to server……Failed”, it is normal, ignore it. Until the authorized days expire, connect the network to active again.

Step 13: Choose “OBDII cable”
