The new Panamera can only be diagnosed by using this Porsche PIWIS Tester-II. Based on current project planning, all earlier vehicle models will gradually be changed over to the new PIWIS Tester-II by the end of 2010. PIWIS Tester-I must be used for older models in the Porsche workshop until end of 2010.

Support for PIWIS Tester-I will no longer be available once the earlier diagnostic programs have been transferred to PIWIS Tester-II.

Advice & Options:

ENET cable would probably be better for you.

I flashed NBT EVOs with old ICOM without problems.

Flashed all Cars with Icom Next and Online Aos with DHCP over Router. Since that i have Never any Problems with NBT or other. Flash E/F/G with this Setup.

Note that Online Aos is the online version of the BMW software for Diagnostic, Programming any many other things.

1st : you doesn’t need iCOM NEXT from OBD2TOOL to flash the G series…but It actually Lot better & save up your times because iCOM NEXT has build in Gigabit connection.
2nd : old iCOM working find. It just take a lot longer.

Icom best any type , router I noticed w my setup I use desktop w 2 lan port and on a few f cars it actually faster then oem it programs up to 8 module same time w gigabit switch , and handle data lots faster than etnet cable and for certain modules the router is a must will crash hu high in kombi in a few others

Any icom will work , but to be safe with f,g,i series vehicles , use a dedicated router as kafas huh and a few other modules will crash if you do not use a router it handles the switches for Ethernet as those modules use more than 1 path way , in short it uses all 4 two pair wires and without router not good , this has worked for me for some time now good luck. note my router does not connect to wan

Conclusion:

ICOM Next is the best option for G series, working better and faster than old BMW Diagnostic Tool BMW ICOM cables. It handles multiprogramming and coding quite nicely. Gets the job done much faster if flashing the complete vehicle. Also, another benefit to Next will be compatibility for future cars.

BMW E-Series Programming with ICOM ISTAP, not ISTA+

There are different systems for vehicle diagnosis (ISTA) and programming (ISTA/P) used. This means it was necessary to change systems several times when repairing a vehicle using software.

For Exx- Series:
Interface = K+DCAN Cable (OBDII to USB) or ICOM
ECU Data Files = SP-Daten
NCS Expert = Coding Software
WinKFP = Programming (Flashing) Software
EDIABAS = Low-Level ECU Communication Software used by NCS Expert & WinKFP

For Coding, you need NCS Expert / SP-Daten for E-Series
All Diagnosis and Coding can be done with a cheap K+Dcan cable

For Programming (Flashing ECU’s with new Firmware), then you need ISTA/P for for E-Series, or you can use WinKFP for it. And you will need a BMW ICOM cable (ICOM A2/ICOM A3 or ICOM Next)

YOU HAVE TO KNOW before you buy ICOM A2 or ICOM A3 or ICOM Next:

ICOM Next vs the old ICOM

-> much faster in BMW F and G series ..
-> supports gigabit Ethernet too to be future proof, there currently is not gigabit Ethernet protocol defined yet for autos. Also it has USB3.0 instead of USB2.0 and a better wifi card.

So, Icom next a works much better.

-> more stable during programming
-> be necessary for the future Gbit cars

ICOM A3 vs ICOM NEXT

Both of these have the same hardware. None of them are clones of anything also. A3 is fully china version of ICOM, there is no original version looking like this crap. NEXT is just looking as genuine NEXT, but with old A1/A2 hardware inside, like A3.

I recommend buying an Icom next. It is priced roughly at 500 euro. Take in consideration that you will probably work on cars that are worth 30-40k euro or maybe more and if your chinese icom fails you even once, you will be spending a lot of money on a bricked ecu.

ICOM A vs ICOM A2 vs ICOM A3

Modified ICOM A2 for vehicles with OBD access receives a significantly more powerful processor and more storage capacity. And robust aluminium case will help to avoid damage when using in harsh environments. It works better in cooling, runs faster and works more stable, not easier broken than older ICOM A.

ICOM A3 can program all units for all BMW series expect media system, and work more stable and has stronger compatibility than ICOM A2, A1.

In short, ICOM NEXT A+B+C works perfect; it’s the best option.

SDconnect C4 connection problem- Das fault (1.1) -1.501.9878

SD Connect C4 fails to connect and comes up with the error message:

Das fault (1.1) -1.501.9878

The mux is connecting, with diagnosis computer both by lan cable or wifi ( passed and respond to all self tests), no lcd problems or blocked (!) . The fault comes when das try to initialize the mux green led blinks about 10 sec,and this fault comes no matter is from das standalone or launched from xentry.

Software & install:

xentry 12.2015 , das bin, blacklist fixed etc on a dell d630 appid 253 and ……

Solutions:

You must change IP address in windows.172.29.127.119:

Go into “Control Panel”, “Network Connection”, “Local Network Connection”> right click > properties > choose this one with TCP/IP, select this, chose properties, choose manually ip, and put this ip “172.29.127.119”, mask 255.255.0.0 (as you will get when type ip), rest of field, leave blank.

if it does not work

Try one more time make update of these 2 package.

How to solve Cummins INSITE 8.2 Connection Error 5204 5202 5201 5200

With DPA5 adapter,I try to connect with Cummins insite and i have error code 5204 or only no connection and not blinking the leds

 

This is the error 5204 popped up when connect Prostar 2005 with cummins engine:

ECM connection

Error number: 5204

Communication between the data link adapter and the ECM could not be established.

Please check the following conditions:

The key switch is on

The cables are between the data link and the ECM are properly connected

The cables are in good condition

The correct adapter type is selected

The correct communication protocol is selected

Select retry, cancel or help for additional troubleshooting steps

Here is what have been tried but failed!

Try to connect whit J1939…..same issue

On truck does not even get the engine and the others only couple line and very slow, might be some thing with them trucks

Some things odd2006 models connect through J1939 and works.
Tried on 3 trucks already that are 2005 and older the connect thought J1708 it says engine 128
And when doing the J 1939 test on them it says something like data error

Check the driver is installed well

J1939 & J1708 are added to the software

Finally, SOLVED!

The solution is this, connect, then scan to diagnostic connector but not to USB, open the Cummins insite and push connect, when the Insite begin to connect, immediately connect the USB and ready….

The final tip- Error Messages for communication failures:

Error 5200: Indicates communication loss between computer and the data link adapter.

Error 5201: Indicates communication loss between the data link adapter and the ECM.

Error 5202: Indicates no communication could be established between the Data link adapter and the computer.

Error 5204: Indicates no communication could be established between the Data link adapter and the ECM.

If the “Auto Configure” and/or “Data link Adapter Connection Test” do not find the adapter when connected, manually configure the Cummins INSITE 6 Data link adapter connection.

DSP3 Mileage Correction ODOMETER CORRECTION

Connect the DSP3 Odometer Correction OBD Tool or other adapter with your host at first, then power on the system, software will be opened. Click the ‘ODOMETER’ button on the main window, you will see the make list window, select make such as ‘BMW’ and double click, model list window appears as Figure, double click on a model such as ‘3 SERIES 2001-2003’, you will see the help window as Figure, click‘ Picture’, you can see a color picture which show you how to connect a proper adapter to the target odometer pcb; after connecting the proper adapter with the target odometer pcb as picture, power off, then plug the proper adapter into the main hardware by the Adapter-Socket. CANdi Module
An industry change in protocol from OBD2TOOL to Controller Area Network (CAN) is ongoing. In order to perform diagnostics on a vehicle that uses the CAN  interface, you will need the Tech 2 and a CAN diagnostic interface  module.
